History

Construction of Eureka Tower began in August 2002 and was completed in June 2006. The project was designed by architects Fender Katsalidis and developed by Eureka Tower Pty Ltd. The building's name comes from the Eureka Rebellion of 1854, a significant moment in Australian history. The tower's design incorporates symbolic elements, including a red stripe representing the blood shed during the rebellion. The top of the building is covered with 24-carat gold, symbolizing the Victorian gold rush. At the time of completion, Eureka Tower was the tallest residential building in the world, a title it held until 2011.
