The Clock Tower of Tirana was built in 1822 at the initiative of Haxhi Et'hem Bey, a local Ottoman nobleman. Initially, the tower was 30 meters tall and equipped with a mechanical clock from Venice. In 1928, the tower was raised to 35 meters to improve the clock's visibility. During World War II, the original clock was destroyed and replaced in 1946 with a German clock. In 1970, an electric clock was installed, which still functions today. The tower has undergone several renovations over time, the most recent being in 2010, which restored its original splendor.
