The Botanical Garden is accessible by buses 41, 42 and 43, stop "Grădina Botanică". From Iași Train Station, you can take bus 41 directly to the garden. Parking is available nearby on Dumbrava Roșie street.

Good To Know

Visiting hours: daily, 10:00-20:00 (summer), 10:00-17:00 (winter). Recommended in spring and summer for floral diversity. Photography is allowed, but touching plants is not recommended. There are shaded areas and benches for resting. During warm seasons, wearing a hat and applying sunscreen is recommended. Toilets are available inside the garden.

History

The Botanical Garden in Iași was founded in 1856 by the physician and naturalist Anastasie Fătu, being the first university botanical garden in Romania. Initially, it was located in the city center, but in 1963 it was moved to its current location on Copou Hill. Over time, the garden has continuously expanded and developed. In 1870, it was taken over by the University of Iași, becoming a research and educational institution. During World War II, the garden suffered significant damage but was restored and expanded in the post-war period. In 1973, the Greenhouse Complex was inaugurated, allowing for the cultivation of a wider range of exotic plants.
